You can (and should) use the Scoutmaster Bucky Citizenship in Society Merit Badge Workbook to help get a head start and organize your preparation work. Please note that the use of any workbook is merely for note taking and reference. Completion of any merit badge workbook does not warrant, guarantee, or confirm a Scout's completion of any merit badge requirements.

Pay careful attention to the action verbs within the requirements. An example to note:
"Tell", "explain", "describe", and "discuss" are commonly used and will require the Scout to perform these actions during the class. When these action verbs are a part of any requirement, Scouts are expected to be prepared to share. Reading responses is not acceptable since it does not fulfill the requirement of showing the Scout's knowledge and understanding.
“Discussion” requirements will be either with a counselor and another individual (in accordance with Youth Protection Guidelines https://www.scouting.org/health-and-safety/gss/gss01/), or with your counselor and a small group (of Scouts), depending upon your preference.
This requirement and its components will take some time to complete and Scouts MUST have these items prepared and readied for the class. Scouts not having this requirement prepared for prior to the class will be dismissed as the requirement clearly states, "Before beginning work on other requirement for this merit badge". Preparation is a must and those Scouts who do not prepare ahead of time for this requirement will NOT be able to partake in the class until this requirement is ready for completion. Be Prepared!
As the first part of this requirement states, Scouts must document what leadership means to them (according to dictionary.com document = record (something) in written, photographic, or other form). Failure to document will result in not being able to complete this requirement. Scouts will also need to actively partake in discussion to the satisfaction of the merit badge counselor in order to fulfill the first part of this requirement.
Scouts will be provided time to share their research and findings on their chosen individual. Only Scouts that are able to cover all points within this requirement will be considered for completion of this requirement.
While not specifically stated, it is HIGHLY recommended and suggested that Scouts consider identifying an individual different from the individual they choose for Requirement 7.
Think about a time you faced an ethical decision.
List three examples of ethical decisions you might have to make in the future at school, at home, in the workplace, or in your community, and what you would do.
Explain to your counselor how you plan to use what you have learned to assist you when that time comes, and what action(s) you can take to serve as an upstander and help other people at all times.
Repeat the Scout Oath and Scout Law for your counselor. Choose two of the three following scenarios and discuss what you could do as a Scout to demonstrate leadership and your understanding of what it means to help others who may seem different from you:
This requirement is another that requires Scouts to document. Scouts not documenting their work will find it difficult, if not impossible, to complete this requirement in the class. Be Prepared!
This requirement and it's components will take a bit of preparation time. It is strongly recommended that you prepare for this requirement prior to the class. While it can not be guaranteed that you will have time or the resources to complete this requirement and it's components during the class, time will be allotted for those that are prepared to share their work and be conisdered for sign off on this requirement. Be Prepared!
While not specifically stated, it is HIGHLY recommended and suggested that Scouts consider identifying an individual different from the individual they choose for Requirement 2.
Again, a requirement that requires Scouts to document. Scouts will need to show their work to the counselor / facilitator confirming they have prepared for the completion of this requirement completely. Discussion will be facilitated during the class to fulfill the requirement and it's components as stated, however it must be noted that Scouts that do not have or cannot show their documented work will NOT ba able to complete this requirement on the day of the class. Be Preapred!
