Scout's Name:

Either a parent or the merit badge counselor may supervise the Scout's work on any Home Repairs requirements.

Requirement 1: Do the following:
Requirement 1a: Explain to your counselor the most likely hazards you may encounter while working on home repairs and what you should do to anticipate, mitigate and prevent, and respond to these hazards. Describe the appropriate safety gear and clothing that should be used when working on home repairs.
Requirement 1b: Discuss general precautions related to home repairs. Name at least 10 safe practices that every home repairer should exercise.
Requirement 2: Under the supervision of your merit badge counselor, do FOUR of the following:
Requirement 2a: Maintain or recondition a yard tool and show that you know how to clean up and properly store this equipment.
Requirement 2b: Weather strip a window or door.
Requirement 2c: Caulk cracks or joints open to the weather.
Requirement 2d: Waterproof a basement.
Requirement 2e: Repair a break in a concrete or asphalt surface.
Requirement 2f: Repair the screen in a window or door.
Requirement 2g: Replace a pane of glass.
Requirement 2h: Solder a broken wire or metal object.
Requirement 3: Under the supervision of your merit badge counselor, do THREE of the following:
Requirement 3a: Install or build equipment for storing tools.
Requirement 3b: Build a workbench.
Requirement 3c: Repair a piece of furniture.
Requirement 3d: Paint or varnish a piece of furniture, a door, or trim on a house.
Requirement 3e: Repair a sagging door or gate.
Requirement 3f: Repair a loose step or railing.
Requirement 3g: Repair a fence.
Requirement 4: Under the supervision of your merit badge counselor, do TWO of the following:
Requirement 4a: Locate a main electrical switch box and know how to replace a fuse or reset a circuit breaker.
Requirement 4b: Replace an electrical cord or repair a plug or lamp socket.
Requirement 4c: Install a single-pole light switch.
Requirement 4d: Replace an electrical wall outlet.
Requirement 5: Under the supervision of your merit badge counselor, do TWO of the following:
Requirement 5a: Clear a clogged drain or trap.
Requirement 5b: Repair a leaky water faucet.
Requirement 5c: Repair a flush toilet.
Requirement 5d: Repair a leaky hose or connector.
Requirement 5e: Clean or replace a sprinkler head.
Requirement 6: Under the supervision of your merit badge counselor, do THREE of the following:
Requirement 6a: Paint a wall or ceiling.
Requirement 6b: Repair or replace damaged tile, linoleum, or vinyl flooring.
Requirement 6c: Install drapery or curtain rods and then hang drapes or curtains.
Requirement 6d: Replace window blind cords.
Requirement 6e: Repair or replace a window sash cord.
Requirement 6f: Reinforce a picture frame.
Requirement 6g: Mend an object made of china, glass, or pottery.
