D Merit Badges have the same tpye of crimping as the Type C badges, however the
material Type D badges are made of are of a consitently lighter tan color;
referred to by collectors as fine twill or sand twill cloth.
Type D Merit Badges were produced from 1942 to 1946. The emroidered green ring
comes with many color variations but do not necessarily make a distinct
variation from a collector's view. Currently there are only 85 of the 111
merit badges available during the mid 1940's that are known to exist in the Type D style.
