|The "Air Scouts" program was established
in 1941 and with this came the suspension of the
Aviation merit badge, and the creation of four more
specialized aeronautical subjects. (Aerodynamics,
Aeronautics, Airplane Design, and Airplane Structure).
The Air Scouts lasted until 1949 when they were renamed
Air Explorers and integrated over the years into the
Exploring component of Scouting, lasting until 1965 when
it was finally dissolved.
